The Lost Book Of Remedies Review

Updated: Sep 3, 2019

I am all about natural remedies, when my kids get sick I don't immediately run to the drug store. The first thing I do is make them a cup of herbal tea because I know the power of herbs, fruits and vegetables. In my grandmother's era, most of what they used were herbs and plants from their garden. I started a garden about two years ago so that my family could eat more healthy and I knew everything that was going into the food we were consuming, not only has it been fun, and a little bit of work, I feel better knowing that it's all natural. I know that garlic and onions have antibiotic properties and that's usually what I use when any of start to get sick. Don't get me wrong, when the kids get sick we still go to the doctor and I am not completely opposed to medicine. But, I do like to use natural remedies along with whatever the doctor prescribes because I feel it speeds up the process. When I saw The Lost Book of Remedies, I was a little skeptical, but ordered it anyway. Click here to get yours now!

The Lost Book Of Remedies is written by Claude Davis and Dr. Nicole Apelian

  • Color pictures of 169 healing plants, lichens, and mushrooms of North America.

  • Detailed instructions on harvesting the plants along with medicinal and edible uses for each of them. It's 318 pages so there is a load of information packed into this one book.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to read, not just a book filled from top to bottom with word, but had plenty of pictures to plant identify. Since I am not a pro-gardener this made it more doable for me to point out and there were quite a few identification notes to go along with the pictures. The book is filled with recipes for ointments and syrups and remedies for common ailments with detailed instructions on all of them. Most of the plants that are in the book are plants that grow in the U.S and not uncommon plants that are found in other countries, which is definitely a plus.

Remedies Include

  • Colds

  • Skin ailments

  • Respiratory ailments

  • Illnesses

The only downside of the book The Lost Book Of Remedies is that the illness/ailments are not categorized throughout so you will need to read the book in its entirety or use Medicinal Herbal Reference Guide to find them.

All in all though I think this book is worth the buy, it's a little easier to have a book on hand when the kids get a rash or cold, than to have to go searching for a remedy. I would also recommend speaking to your doctor before starting any home remedy especially if you have pre-existing conditions.
